Terms of service
What you agree to when you use the app, in plain words.
Last updated: 13 October 2026
1. Who we are
The Sourdough Planner ("the app", "we") is run by:
- Femke Meijer, sole trader (autónoma) in Spain
- Address and NIF: the address and NIF on our Legal notice
- Email: hello@thesourdoughplanner.com
2. What the app does
The Sourdough Planner helps you plan sourdough bakes around your own day. You choose a recipe and when you want it ready, and the app builds a schedule of steps around your sleep and busy hours. It also guides you through growing a sourdough starter.
Some parts are free: browsing recipes, the Learn guides, the Tools page, and the starter features. Planning and following bakes requires a paid subscription.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Please give accurate information and keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing hello@thesourdoughplanner.com. We delete your account and everything in it within 30 days (see our Privacy policy).
4. Subscription, free trial and price
- Price: €7.99 per month, including VAT.
- Founding members: the first 50 subscribers pay €4.99 per month, including VAT, instead of €7.99. You keep this founding price for as long as your subscription continues. If your subscription ends, because you cancel or because payments keep failing, the founding price ends with it. If you subscribe again later, the standard price applies. Whether you pay the founding price is shown before you start your trial.
- Free trial: new subscribers get 14 days free. You enter a payment method when you start the trial. Before the trial ends, you receive a reminder by email. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically: you are charged the price shown when you signed up at the end of the trial, and then every month on the same date.
- Payment is handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. From time to time we may offer promotional codes.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time in the app: open the menu (•••), tap your name to open Account, then Manage subscription. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. You will not be charged again.
- Failed payments: if a payment fails, we and Stripe will try again. If it keeps failing, your subscription ends.
- Price changes: if we change the standard price, we tell you at least 30 days in advance. The new price only applies from your next billing period after that, and you can cancel before it takes effect. We do not raise the founding price while your founding subscription continues.
5. Right of withdrawal (consumers in the EU and UK)
If you live in the EU or the UK, you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days, without giving a reason.
The withdrawal period starts on the day you sign up, which is the day your free trial starts. Because the trial lasts 14 days, you can withdraw during the whole trial without paying anything. You have this right once: it does not start again when the trial turns into a paid subscription.
To withdraw, cancel your trial in the app, or send us a clear statement by email to hello@thesourdoughplanner.com, for example with the model form below. It is enough to send it before the 14 days are over.

6. Refunds
Apart from your right of withdrawal and any other rights you have under the law of your country, payments are not refundable. This includes months you have started but not fully used.
7. Your content
Your data. What you add to the app (starters, feeds, bakes, notes, photos) stays yours.
Photos in your bakes are private. Only you can see them.
Sharing your bake. If you choose to share a bake with us, you decide how you appear: under a name or social handle, or anonymously. By sharing, you give us a free, non-exclusive permission to show that photo in the app, on our social media and in our newsletter. You can withdraw your permission at any time by emailing us. We will then stop using the photo in new places and remove it from the app. Posts that were already published may remain visible.
Ratings. Recipe ratings are shown to others only as an average, never with your name.
What you may not upload: anything that isn't yours, anything unlawful, or anything offensive. We may remove content that breaks these rules.
8. Using the app fairly
Please don't misuse the app: no attempts to break into it or disrupt it, no automated scraping, and no reselling or copying of the app or its content.
9. Our content
The recipes, guides, photos, videos and design in the app belong to Femke Meijer or are used with permission. You may use them for your own baking. You may not copy, publish or sell them. For using our photos elsewhere, see our licensing page.
10. Baking and safety
Sourdough is a living process, and every kitchen is different. The app gives schedules and guidance, not guarantees. Results depend on your flour, starter, temperature and equipment.
- Allergens: our recipes contain gluten (wheat, rye, spelt) and some contain other allergens such as milk, eggs, nuts, sesame or soya. Always check the ingredients yourself.
- Raw flour and dough: don't eat raw flour or unbaked dough.
- Oven safety: never leave a hot oven unattended. The app never plans oven steps during your sleep hours, but you remain responsible for your kitchen.
- Starters: if a starter shows pink or orange streaks, or fuzzy mould, throw it away.
11. Affiliate links
Some links in the app, mainly on the Tools page, are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. This costs you nothing extra. Not everything here is something I use myself; some I chose after reading a lot of reviews.
12. About AI
The Sourdough Planner was built with the help of AI tools. Parts of its content, including the recipes, were developed with AI-assisted research and then checked by Fem. Using the app involves no AI: your schedules and your starter's progress are calculated by fixed rules. When you send feedback, Fem may use an AI coding assistant to help fix the problem. She only shares what's needed to fix it, never your name or email address.
13. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep the app available and reliable, but we can't guarantee it will always work without interruption. We may improve or change features. If we change these terms in a way that matters to you, we tell you in advance, and you can cancel before the change takes effect.
14. Liability
We are liable under the law for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, and for anything the law does not allow us to exclude. Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect damage, such as a failed bake, wasted ingredients or lost time. None of this limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
15. Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your own country, and you may bring a claim in the courts where you live. If something goes wrong, please email us first. We would much rather solve it together.
